AN Oscar-nominated director’s take on a classic British play comes to Swindon for five days next week.
An Inspector Calls is a mystery thriller by JB Priestley, in which the comfort of a well-heeled dinner party is shattered by the sudden appearance of a police officer investigating the murder of a young woman.
The version coming to the Wyvern Theatre comes from director Stephen Daldry, whose work on Billy Elliot, The Hours and The Reader led to three Academy Award nominations.
His National Theatre production of An Inspector Calls has already established itself as one of the most highly-regarded offerings in the West End and Broadway, and is sometimes spoken of as one of the best versions in recent memory.
It will be performed at the Wyvern from Tuesday to Saturday, April 3 to 7, at 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on each of those days apart from the Friday.
Tickets cost from £17.50 to £26, and the box office can be contacted on 01793 524481 and via www.wyverntheatre.org.uk
