IF you haven’t booked tickets to see Avenue Q at the Wyvern this week, what are you waiting for?
This fantastically mischievous, politically incorrect show, which comes to us on tour after five years in the West End, is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. My whole family, teenage sons included, howled with laughter as the inhabitants of the downtown New York street tried to tackle life’s burning issues – racism, sex and internet porn.
Don’t be put off by the puppets; there is nothing sweet or sickly about these characters. As my son commented after the show: “Wow, that was like Sesame Street on crack cocaine!”
Catch the show tonight, tomorrow at 5.30pm and 8.30pm, and Saturday at 4pm and 8pm. Tickets are from £16. – MICHELLE TOMPKINS
