CHILDREN at Southfield School in Highworth have been getting on their bikes to learn road safety.
Cycling Now, led by Neil Daycock, has trained more than 4,000 children and a good many adults since becoming Swindon’s first Bikeability provider in 2008.
For the past two years, year six children at Southfield have been given the opportunity to do a Bikeability course, with take-up rates in excess of 95 per cent and nearly 100 pupils passing level 2.
Southfield were celebrating this week as every year six pupil passed their Bikeability course this year.
Lead Instructor Lew Lawton said: “The children really enjoy the course. They are always ready to go out, no matter what the weather.
“Out on the road in Highworth they work well together, encouraging each other to learn and improve their skills.
“We often find that they can teach their parents a thing or two about cycling when they proudly show off their Bikeability certificates and badges.”
