BEHAVIOUR at Broad Hinton Church of England Primary School is outstanding, according to Government officials.
The school, which has 97 pupils, was visited by Ofsted inspectors last month, who gave it an overall grade of good with an outstanding grade for pupil behaviour and safety.
Elizabeth Floyd, who has been headteacher of the school for five years, said the result is down to the hard work of pupils, parents, teachers and governors.
“The report says we are a good school with lots of outstanding features. Pupils achieve well, especially in reading and writing. The school is friendly and behaviour is excellent,” she said.
“It is absolutely fantastic. We are very pleased. All the teachers, pupils, governors and parents are so dedicated to the school and this really does show us off to our best.”
The school also achieved an overall grade of good at its last inspection in July 2007.
Ofsted inspectors said: “This is a good school where pupils achieve well, especially in reading and writing. The school is friendly and welcoming, with a strong ethos that encourages the excellent development of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.
“Pupils’ behaviour is excellent and this contributes very well to their learning. They are very polite and respectful of each other and the adults in school, and know very well how to keep themselves safe. Good-quality safeguarding underpins the pupils’ sense of security and enjoyment of learning.”
Inspectors also praised the school’s support for disabled pupils and the amount of progress that pupils make at the school.
