A PET ferret who went missing in Old went has been found more than a mile from its home.

Robert Sharp was heartbroken when his beloved ferret, Triss, went missing from his home in Victoria Road on March 24.

The inquisitive animal, which is kept as a house pet, had managed to escape through a small hole in the bathroom.

Following the disappearance of the pet, Robert and his mum Julie Naylor took to the streets of Old Town and put up hundreds of posters to try and find the whereabouts of the small creature.

The 26-year-old had all but given up hope of ever seeing Triss again when they got a phone call saying that the beloved animal had been found.

The ferret had managed to make it as far as the Co-op store, in Old Town, where he was found by a family who also had two ferrets as pets.

Triss was taken in by the family and it wasn’t until they went to the pub on Saturday night that they saw the posters and called a relieved Robert to let him know the feret was safe and well.

The pair were reunited at the weekend and Robert is hoping Triss doesn’t decided to go on any more adventures.

Julie said: “We were over the moon when we found out he she had been found. She is a house ferret and we think she got out through a hole in the bathroom.

“We printed out lots of posters and put them up all over Old Town last Tuesday.

“When we got the call saying she had been found we were so pleased, and she seems fine and probably enjoyed spending time with the other ferrets.

“She was found up at the Co-op store by someone who thought she was a rat at first.

“We are so pleased to have her back and hopefully she’ll be safe from now on.”

Triss is only one-year old and Julie said she was a bit surprised when her son said he was getting a ferret as a pet.

“ I was a bit unsure because I had only seen ferrets down on the farm and we thought they were dangerous and bite people,” she said.

“But she is lovely and is so playful, I think she is a great little pet.”
