STAFF at energy company RWE npower have raised £16,234 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in a 10km run for the charity.
More than 120 employees from the company’s Swindon office pounded the pavements for the cause, just beating last year’s fundraising total of £16,000.
Chief executive Volker Beckers joined the team, along with Macmillan’s head of high value, Charles Byrne.
Ruth Worton, charity manager at RWE npower, said: “This year’s Swindon race was bigger and better than ever before and we’re delighted to have beaten last year’s fundraising total.
“I’d like to thank all of the staff that took part in the race for their commendable efforts. Macmillan is an organisation close to many of the runners’ hearts.”
Mr Byrne said: “The run has been a great example of how a team can come together and make such a difference for people affected by cancer.
“We’ve been working with RWE npower since 2004 and their employees have always been hugely supportive.
“I’d like to thank everyone who took part and to the friends and family that sponsored the runners and enabled us to raise such a fantastic fundraising total.”
