THE search is on to find the next girls to become Swindon and Wiltshire’s beauty queens.
The Miss England Organisation is looking for girls aged between 17 and 24 who live work or study in WIltshire to take part in the competition, which starts with a photoshoot at Bushwackers on Monday, April 9 .
Last year Jo Logan, of Haydon End, was crowned Miss Wiltshire, and Hannah Golding, of Royal Wootton Bassett, was crowned Miss Swindon.
Rhona Shafik, the organiser of the Miss Swindon and Wiltshire competition, said: “We are looking for contestants who are not only photogenic and attractive in face and figure, but also have good communication skills, confidence and charm.
“Winning the title of Miss Wiltshire or Miss Swindon will bring a host of new opportunities to the two winners, including representing this area in the next stage of the national competition.”
The winner of Miss Swindon will compete in the semi-final of the Miss World competition at the prestigious Champneys Health Spa next year.
The winner of Miss Wiltshire will win direct entry to the grand final in June this year.
If they are successful they could become Miss England, which will lead to the Miss World competition.
Hannah, 22, won the crown last year and will be taking part in the semi-finals 2012 at Champneys Springs on May 30.
“I would encourage any girl to enter Miss Swindon this year. I have always loved the competition and, after becoming runner up in 2010, I came back and won it,” she said.
“From being Miss Swindon I have done so many things I never thought I would do, from abseiling down the County Ground, running the Swindon Half Marathon, being a model in various fashion shows and holding my own eco charity fashion show.
“I have loved helping others and have gained new friends and built up my confidence. The finals were one of the best experiences of my life.”
Jo, a dance teacher of Haydon End, narrowly missed out on the Miss England crown at the national final last year at the Hilton Hotel .
Photo auditions will be held on Bank Holiday Monday for selected entrants at Bushwackers, where pictures will be taken by Kris Talikowski.
The finalists will take part in a show on May 20 in front of a panel of judges including Miss England 2011, who will choose the winners of the Miss Swindon and the Miss Wiltshire crowns.
