AWARD-winning children’s author Elen Caldecott visited Ridgeway School to conclude a term’s celebration of books, reading and storytelling.
During her visit Elen told the students about her books including her her latest novel, Operation Eiffel Tower, which was selected by Julia Donaldson as one of her choices for The Guardian newspapers Best Books of 2011.
Students from Years 7 and 9 participated in an assembly and workshops where Elen advised on creative writing and faced questions about the publishing process and what it takes to become an author.
Visiting pupils from Chiseldon Primary School and Broad Hinton Primary School enjoyed a workshop in the Learning Resource Centre. Elen’s visit concluded the school’s term-long World Book Day.
