EASTER came to the Adver this week with an egg-decorating event courtesy of Thorntons.

The chocolate-makers, who have branches at the Outlet Centre and the town centre, brought a van-full of treats, including 200-300 eggs and boxes of chocolate buttons, to the paper’s Victoria Road office on Tuesday.

Children could buy the eggs at a discount and decorate them as they liked, using white or chocolate icing, with a host of other toppings such as multi-coloured sprinkles and chocolate smiles.

And a sprained arm certainly didn’t stop seven-year-old Amelia from writing her name on an egg.

The Swindon youngster hurt herself in a fall on Tuesday, but her half-term took a turn for the better as she finished her design despite having her left arm in sling.

Town centre store manager, Howard Chitty, said: “We took a van full of chocolate and off we went.

“Easter did get a bit overlooked last year with the recession and this is the perfect chance to celebrate family, sharing and chocolate.”

Thorntons also entered into the spirit of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a range of new eggs based on great British puddings.

The lemon meringue, banoffee pie and Eton mess flavour eggs are all available in Thorntons stores.
