WITH just 60 days to go until the nation comes together to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the countdown is on for Swindon to get festive.
In a year dominated by a double whammy of celebrations, with the Jubilee just pipping the Olympics to the post in the calendar, it seems that the younger generation are leading the way in the marking the royal event.
Scores of schools across the town are gearing up for a range of events to make sure the milestone celebration is one they will remember for the rest of their lives.
It is hoped that communities around Swindon will unite for the celebration as many did with the royal wedding held a year ago this month.
Swindon Council has even waived the fee for closing roads in a bid to promote neighbours coming out and commemorating the day as they did for the Golden Jubilee in 2002.
Take a look inside to find out what’s going on locally and how you can get involved.
