THE bright lights of the West End will be shining for a young theatre producer and her team when they take to the stage this weekend.

Carrie Baxter, 22, of Old Town, has been working on her third West End show, Your Song, which includes musical theatre, pop, Motown and comedy.

The performance will be raising funds for charity, including stillbirth and neonatal death group, Sands, in memory of her late brother.

She said: “Although this charity is not necessarily a well known one, it helps parents and families who are unfortunate enough to lose a baby.

“It is very close to my heart as it helped my mum and family deal with the loss of my elder brother, James, when he was just 15 days old.

“I have wanted to give something back to them for years and to finally be able to do so is something, words cannot describe.”

The show will be in London’s Leicester Square Theatre on Sunday at 7.30pm.

Carrie attended Commonweal School before moving to the New College to study performing arts. She recently returned to Swindon, having graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Creative and Performing Arts.

While at university she set up her production company, Carrie James Productions, using her brother’s name in his memory, with the aim of raising money for charities through theatre and performance.

Sunday’s show will also be raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

She said: “This charity deserves all the support it gets. We believe the work they do is irreplaceable and it’s wonderful to be able to raise money and awareness for such an incredible charity.

“This is our biggest show yet and I can’t explain how exciting it is to have such amazing support from so many performers.”

The production includes some of the best young talent in the West End, including Lucy May Baker, who played Johanna in Sweeney Todd at the Chicester Festival Theatre and also played Ilse in the original London cast of Spring Awakening.

Also performing is Chloe Hart, who took the lead in the West End production of Hairspray.

Tickets cost £15 and can be booked at www.leicester squaretheatre.com or by calling 08448 733433.
