PROSPECT Hospice has thanked two teenage supporters who organised and performed in a charity gig that raised more than £200.
Geoffrey Maycock and Tarek Ishty, both 16 and pupils at Highworth Warneford School, organised a three-hour concert in January, featuring eight bands made up from past and present pupils of the school. The boys, who both play guitar in rock and blues band The Debuts, held the concert as a way of getting some valuable gigging experience while raising some much-needed funds for charity.
Geoffrey’s mum, Mary, is being cared for at Prospect and it was this experience that led the lads to choose the hospice.
Geoffrey said: “We had wanted to organise the gig for ages, and realised that it would be a perfect opportunity to help a local charity at the same time.”
Tarek said: “Eight bands played, with quite a few people coming back especially to play for us, and we had huge support from lots and lots of friends who all played their part in making this happen. I want to say thanks to everyone who supported us.”
