PEOPLE in Highworth are being encouraged to take part in this month’s Swimathon Weekend 2012 to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Highworth Recreation Centre is one of 645 pools across the UK taking part in the Swimathon from April 27-29, which will see thousands doing its 5k, 2.5k and Team 5k Distance Challenges and for Sport Relief through the new ‘Big Splash Mile’.
The weekend is open to all ages and abilities, whether you want to swim the ultimate Swimathon 5k for Marie Curie Cancer Care, or you want to swim a short distance as part of the Big Splash Team Mile.
Lee Seagroatt, assistant manager at Highworth Rec, said: “The Swimathon Weekend 2012 is the perfect event to train for, and participate in, with your friends and family.”
The money raised will help support Marie Curie Nurses, who provide free nursing care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses, in the place of their choice. To enter or for more information, visit www.swimathon.org.
