PROSPECT Hospice will host an open evening from 5pm tonight for nurses and health care assistants interested in exploring work and development opportunities within end-of-life care.

The charity, which last year cared for 1,800 patients and their families at the hospice, in patients’ homes and at the Great Western Hospital, is inviting people interested in furthering their careers to the hospice this evening to find out more about working within this specialised area of care.

Debbie Ho, the director of patient services, said: “We know and understand that there are many people working within healthcare locally who will be interested in developing their careers towards end-of-life care, and we hope they will be able to join us for an informal chat to find out more.”

In-patient unit manager Liz Clements said: “People often assume the hospice is going to be doom and gloom but it really isn’t, all hospices are different.

“We will welcome both qualified and unqualified people who are interested, people who want to know more about the hospice.

“They may have patients who may need our support.

“It is nice for them to come in and see us. We will have nibbles and lots of information available.”

The hospice is in Moormead Road, Wroughton. For more details visit www.prospect-hospice.net.
