ROLLING a giant ball around for more than 80 miles helped raise cash for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

A team of fundraisers took to the streets with a two-and-a-half metre ball for just over two days in a bid to help the charity.

They travelled from Chiseldon to Dorcan, then on to South Marston, Coleshill, Faringdon, Cricklade, Rodbourne, Kingshill and then out to Bath.

Marie Curie’s nursing ambassador for Wiltshire, Diane Simpson, who is also a Swindon Marie Curie nurse, joined the team for part of the challenge.

“They were even walking through the night to get it done,” she said.

“The team were rolling the ball from petrol station to petrol station.

“They were doing an absolutely fantastic job and I walked with them from Chiseldon to the petrol station in Dorcan Way. People were just stopping their cars and chucking money in their buckets.

“It was just unbelievable, the team were absolutely fantastic.”

The team wore Marie Curie tabards and carried fundraising buckets during the event, which started last Friday.
