COMMUNITY groups and neighbourhoods across Swindon are being given the chance to win one of 100 street parties, courtesy of Co-Op.

The retailer is backing the Diamond Jubilee with a £10,000 party fund – for 100 street party organisers to each win £100 towards the food.

As well as £100 worth of Co-op vouchers to put towards food, people holding street parties, will also get a party pack filled with red, white and blue bunting, balloons, papers cups and plates, and Union flags.

There have been a bumper number of applications for road closures for jubilee street parties between June 2 and 5, according to the Local Government Association.

Party organisers can enter by visiting www.goodwithfood.co.uk/jubilee and saying what’s special about their community and why they’ve decided to host a street party.

Judges will be looking for entries that most touch their hearts and are the most community focused.

The closing date for entries is April 30.
