A HAIRDRESSER has shown that his hair extension skills are a cut above the rest.

Joshua Goldsworthy, of Goldsworthy’s Hairdressing Salon, in Catherine Street Swindon, has won the title of Pro Hair Live Extensionist of the Year.

The 21-year-old competed at a Pro Hair Live exhibition, in Manchester, in front of four judges and an audience.

“I do so much extension work in the salon and on my session and photographic work, which I regularly take part in, it really is my speciality,” he said.

“It’s just such an achievement to win this award especially as the standard was so high. I am absolutely delighted.”

The competition was initially judged on photographs sent in by competitors.

Five, including Joshua, were shortlisted and were invited to the exhibition.

Judges included Bruno Marc, from Marc Antoni, Mark Creed, who is president of The Fellowship for British Hairdressing and Philosophy, Nicola Shannon, who is editor of professional Hairdresser, and Dawn Reilly, who is marketing director of Balmain Hair.

After an hour on stage and deliberation by the judges, the winner was announced.

Joshua’s prize is a photoshoot with a top photographer to recreate his look for the front cover of a hairdressing magazine.
