TWO teenagers threatened a 13-year-old boy with a dog chain and bullied him into handing over his £275 scooter.
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the robbery in Polaris Way, which is a bus lane between North Star Avenue and Great Western Way.
Between about 8.30pm and 9pm on Saturday, the victim was wheeling along his scooter along Polaris Way from the direction of the Oasis skate park towards the Cockleberry roundabout with two of his friends.
They were approached by two older teens and the first said he wanted the scooter before placing his hand on the handlebar.
The second man then removed a dog chain he was wearing around his neck and swung it at the youngsters, claiming he would hit the victim if he did not hand over the scooter.
The first man was heard to say ‘He’s not in a good mood and should not be messed with’ before snatching the scooter away from the young victim and riding away on it.
The first male is described as approximately 17 years old, about 6ft 2ins tall and of skinny build with short blond/brown hair.
He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a navy blue hooded jumper with a Ralph Lauren logo on the left breast, dark jeans with pockets on the thigh and blue and black Nike Air Max trainers.
The second male is described as being about 17 years old, around 5ft 5ins tall and of skinny/medium build, with short blond/brown hair and a birthmark on the right side of his neck about one inch in length.
He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black jacket with stitching in diamond shapes all over and a Georgio Armani logo on the left breast.
He was also wearing dark jeans with pockets on the thigh and Nike Air Max trainers.
He was carrying a thick dog chain about three inches in length and was riding a black BMX bike with white and blue markings. He referred to himself as ‘Gypsy’.
PC Sophia Best, of the Priority Crime Team in Swindon, said: “In order to progress the inquiry and identify those responsible, I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area on the date and time specified who may have seen two males acting suspiciously.
“You can be assured that any information we receive will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
