A PARROT which answers ‘hello’ when he hears his name is soaring around the town.
A blue and gold macaw called Indigo escaped through a bedroom window in Penhill on Sunday night.
His owner, Laura Fairbridge, has already notified vets and has been urging people to keep a look out for him through Facebook.
“I was moving from my boyfriend’s back to my mum’s. He brought the parrot down and put it on the bedroom door not realising the bedroom window was open,” said the 20-year-old.
“My neighbour saw it fly out the window – he was in the back garden.”
Indigo, who has been living with Laura for about two years, was spotted in Sevenfields at about 8pm on Sunday.
“I found him in a tree but he flew off again. He was on the top branch and there was no way we could climb up and get him,” she said.
“He says ‘hello’ and answers to his name. He can say Indigo as well, he makes a lot of noises. The only way I found him in the tree was by calling him and he answered back.
“It would mean everything to me to get him back. He is more likely to go to a female rather than a male,” she said.
“Hopefully if someone can get him and get him secured he will be okay.”
Anyone with information about Indigo should phone Laura on 07543 855522.
