A DISPUTE which could have seen Swindon fans banned from this weekend’s game at Gillingham has been resolved.
Swindon’s penultimate away game, at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium, was at risk of being played behind closed doors because of a disagreement between Kent Police and Gillingham FC.
It has been announced this morning though that an agreement between the two parties has been met and the council have lifted the prohibition order on the match.
Councillor Mike O’Brien, Medway Councils cabinet member for community safety and customer contact, said: “We are pleased to say that Kent Police have informed us that the dispute over costs of policing at the Gillingham FC V Swindon Town match this Saturday have been resolved and the required numbers of police officers needed will be in the ground on the day.”
