THE Queen will receive a right royal welcome from Swindon people when Her Majesty visits Salisbury as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations next month.
Scores of local residents star in a special film telling their stories and showcasing Swindon’s rich heritage and culture, which will be premiered as part of an exhibition celebrating Wiltshire at the royal visit, expected at the start of May.
Swindon-born Brian Davis is among nearly 20 veteran Dolphins Swimming Club members who gathered at Coate Water for their photo shoot.
The 74-year-old, of Stratton, said: “This is a good boost for the town and it was marvellous catching up with so many friends who I haven’t seen for years. We had a fantastic time talking about the old days.”
The club, which started in 1952, is also celebrating its diamond anniversary. Local beauty spots, businesses and shops all appear in the show reel, along with schoolchildren, community stalwarts, performing artists and Adver staff.
The display will join other exhibitions representing the county in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.
