A BLOODY bar brawl ended in one man needing surgery on his ear after he was bottled and bitten in an unprovoked attack.
The 22-year-old victim was attacked at Casbah nightclub, in John Street, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
His attacker used a bottle to hit the victim in the head before punching and kicking him to the body and biting his right ear, which may need reconstructive surgery.
It is thought the man struck when he overhead the victim talking to a friend in the smoking area at around 2.29am.
Detective Constable Sally Booth said the man was badly shaken following the incident and was waiting to see an ear specialist.
She said: “There were just two men involved in the fight and, once staff at the club were alerted, they moved to split it up.
“The victim is very upset at what has happened and he is waiting to find out how bad his ear is. There is quite a nasty tear to it where it has been bitten.
“He needs an appointment with a specialist to look at it to decide what surgery they can do and we cannot guarantee there won’t be any lasting damage at this stage.
“This was an unprovoked attack and could’ve happened to anyone. The club have supplied us with CCTV and have been helpful with our inquiries but we would like more people to come forward.
“If you witnessed this assault or know anything about it, the police would like to hear from you.”
