COMEDY veteran Barry Cryer and deadpan German Henning Wehn are about to bring their distinctive – and completely different – styles to the Arts Centre.

Barry, who plays the centre on Saturday at 7.30pm, is respected as a writer as well as a performer, having provided material for stars including Morecambe and Wise, Richard Prior, Bob Hope, Les Dawson and Kenny Everett.

He has perfomed as everything from a stand-up to a participant in countless comedy panel shows dating back decades, and was made an OBE in 2001 for his services to the medium.

His Swindon show is billed as “a stream of unconsciousness and sit-down comedy”.

Henning Wehn, who appears at the same venue tomorrow at 8pm, is a performer of more recent vintage who styles himself as the “German comedy ambassador to Great Britain”.

He has appeared on BBC Radio’s Unbelievable Truth, News Quiz, Now Show and Fighting Talk, and his TV credits include QI, Dave’s One Night Stand and Edinburgh and Beyond.

His audience is promised “teutonic jolliness at its best”.

Tickets to see Henning cost £12 and those to see Barry £20. The box office can be contacted on 01793 614837 and via www.wegottickets.com.
