Prospect Hospice is to open its latest charity shop in Royal Wootton Bassett next month.
And of the first duties of incoming mayor Mike Leighfield will be to open the shop.
The new shop, which will be in Potters Walk on the main High Street comes three years after the previous shop had to close.
“We could not be more thrilled than we are about being back in the town,” said Charly Rich, Prospect Hospice’s head of retail.
“It has been a priority for us to return to Royal Wootton Bassett ever since, so when this opportunity came up, we seized it with both hands.
“Shoppers will be able to buy the excellent quality, once-loved items that are available in all our shops, and we hope that they will also want to donate clothes, books, furniture and bric-a-brac to us to sell in future.
“It’s been a really pleasant surprise that many of the volunteers who supported our former shop have decided to come back and help us make a success of the new one, so it is a big welcome back to all of them.”
The new shop, Prospect Hospice’s 13th in the local area, opens at 10am on Thursday, May 3.
