CAMERAS and laptops were stolen from classrooms during a night-time break-in at Tregoze Primary School.

Police are investigating after three laptops and two cameras were taken in the incident, which took place between 7pm last Thursday and 8.25am the next day.

A parent has started fundraising in a bid to help replace the equipment, which was taken from the Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms of the school, in Sleaford Close.

In a statement, headteacher Helen Swanson said: “As a school we are extremely upset the equipment was stolen from us.

“It is depriving our children of equipment that they valuably need.”

Crime scene investigators attended on Friday and investigations are ongoing.

The equipment was insured, but the school said efforts to raise money to help replace it would be appreciated.

In co-operation with the school, mother-of-one Rebecca Donachie has started fundraising by putting a bucket out at Batleys Cash and Carry where she works.

“I just want to give them some money to help,” she said.

“I found out on Friday when I picked my daughter, Tia, up. She was really upset and it really worried her.

“She had never had encounters with the police and to see them there dusting the class down and see her teacher upset was sad for her.

“The equipment was taken from her classroom and the year above her as well.”

Rebecca, of The Prinnells, who is a customer sales assistant at Batleys, has raised about £30 so far and is hoping the money will help.

“All the children are really upset by it,” she said.

“People are trying to find different ways of raising money and trying to do something to help. My sister wants to start fundraising, too.”

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “There is no CCTV footage, but crime scene investigators have been to the school and we are waiting for the outcome of the forensics.”
