During 58 years of peddling their close harmony pop more than 60 singers have drifted though the band that brought us such classics as Up On The Roof, There Goes My First Love, Saturday Night At The Movies and Kissing In The Backrow.
The Drifters are favourites on the theatre circuit and make a welcome return to Swindon tomorrow at the Wyvern Theatre from 8pm.
The familiar doo-wop sound of The Drifters originated in the 1960s under the management of the Treadwell family, who have been in charge ever since. Last year the singers created a primary school tour inviting pupils on stage to sing with them and Swindon’s own Ruskin School was one of the chosen few.
The audience of all ages is taken on a nostalgic tour down memory lane with The Drifters show but the band also record new songs, including their latest single, Do You Dream of Me, which was released for download last year.
Tickets to see the band are £25 from 01793 524481.
