A LIFESIZE sculpture of a horse will be making an appearance at this year’s Wanborough Scarecrow Trail.
About 25 children from Wanborough Primary School have helped to make the creation, which is a revamp of a sculpture pupils made several years ago.
It will be part of the collection at the scarecrow trail, which starts tomorrow and runs until May 13.
Tessa Lanstein, of the Wanborough Village Hall committee, said: “This year’s scarecrow trail promises to be great fun with 57 scarecrows around Wanborough Village all depicting a shows and plays theme.
“We’re in our eighth year now and the trail is firmly set within the village calendar; local families, businesses, schoolchildren and scouts get involved in making the scarecrows and running the refreshment bases at the weekend, in order to support the upkeep of their village hall.
“Last year we raised £1,950 from the scarecrow trail. I very much hope we break the £2,000 threshold this year.”
As well as the trail, the May Day Fayre takes place in Wanborough on May 7 from noon until 4pm.
“People can make a day of it, come to Wanborough on Bank Holiday Monday where you can do the scarecrow trail in the morning and the fayre in the afternoon,” said Tessa.
Entry forms, which are £2.50, are available from Wanborough Village Stores, The Harrow Inn, The Plough and Wanborough Primary School. Proceeds go to the village hall fund.
The trail starts at Wanborough Village Hall and instructions are on the entry form.
