CHILDREN from primary schools across the town took part in an all singing, all dancing event at a church in Haydon Wick.

JAM With A Giant was the latest in a long sequence of Jesus And Me events held at the church over the past 10 years.

The events have seen youngsters sail oceans in JAM in the Caribbean, sit in the shadow of pyramids in JAM in Egypt and boldly go where no church has gone before in JAM in Space.

The weekend event attracted more than 100 primary school children who travelled back 2,500 years to witness the encounter between David and Goliath.

Pauline Davies, who helped out on the day, said the event was a huge success “It went really well. We had a lot of children come along – more than 100 on the Sunday morning, which is the most we have had on a Sunday,” she said.

“This year it was based on the story of David and Goliath and they also incorporated things to do with the Olympics, so they were getting fit as well.”

Vicar Raymond Adams said: “The story of David and Goliath is well known. However, what people don’t realise is that God was preparing David for a very long time for that particular day.

“We wanted to encourage children to see God in all the activities of life, and once again JAM Spread led us in some very eventful singing. The kids also learnt to make their own sheep.

“We wanted to make sure all the children who came engaged with the Bible, while keeping the fun factor very high.”
