A FAMILY is showing its support for Prospect Hospice this summer for the care given to husband and father Brian Keye in the final days of his life.

Brian, of Toothill, was admitted to the Wroughton hospice in December last year, and died there on January 7 at the age of 66.

His family and friends were so impressed by the care he received that they have signed up to take part in a range of fund-raising events to help support the charity.

In June, Brian’s daughter Tanya and son Jamie, together with granddaughter Rachael and Jamie’s friend Sam Bown and his brother Matty, will be leaping from an aeroplane in the Parachute for Prospect event at Redlands Airfield as they complete a 10,000ft tandem skydive.

Meanwhile, Brian’s son Richard and son-in-law Alex will be participating in the High-worth Triathlon in September.

Both of them, along with three of Richard’s pals, are also planning to raise money through Prospect’s sponsored golf day at Marlborough Golf Club on July 13, which will once again see World Snooker Champion Willie Thorne host the event.

It will involve a full 18 holes of golf, competitions throughout the day, and an evening meal and auction with a chance to win some great prizes.

Alex has already raised funds for Prospect by taking part in last month’s Bath Half Marathon.

Sheila, Brian’s widow, is pleased that the younger generations of the family are keen to show their support for a cause that helped their father at the end of his life.

“Brian couldn’t have been anywhere better,” said Sheila.

“For me, it’s the best possible place of care for someone in Brian’s situation, so we wanted to put something back for him.

“Not only did they treat Brian very well, but they were also lovely to us too.

“The work they do there is sad, of course, but they go about it in such a positive way.

“Everyone there was so kind and supportive.

“This is our way of saying thank you for all that they did for him and for us while he stayed there.”
