A BOOST has been given to a charity for adults with learning disabilities thanks to the Old Town Festival Committee.

Committee members helped to pack bags at Asda in West Swindon for their charity of the year, Open Door.

They raised £253.63 for the charity and handed the cheque over on Thursday.

Committee member Alma Welby said: “Old Town Festival committee members held a bag packing session for this year’s chosen charity Open Door. We want to thank Asda Life Community Champion Jan Kilby for helping us raise the money.”

The Open Door Centre, based in Gorse Hill, Swindon, provides a specialist day resource for adults with learning disabilities, who may also have physical disabilities or mental health issues.

This year’s Old Town Festival takes place from June 16 to 23 and will include a pop concert, dog show and a bigger parade than ever.

Organisers of the annual event are looking for people to take on stalls and take part in the parade to help make this year’s festivities a success.
