THE North Wiltshire Orienteers have launched Club Nights in Swindon where beginners can discover the sport and experienced orienteers can brush up on their skills.
The scheme is part of British Orienteering’s push to get more people involved in this great sport.
Qualified coaches will be on hand and there will be the chance to take part in small local competitions and to build to larger events.
The group meets every Tuesday from 7-8.30pm at Lydiard Park Academy. New participants are always welcome to join in the activities which will include map games, family fitness, navigation tips and orienteering challenges.
Local British Orienteering representative Caroline Gay said: “Orienteering is a great sport for all the family as people of all abilities can participate. The kids can have their first taste of independence, learning about map reading, while parents can build their fitness and challenge their mental navigation skills.”
