THE Liberal Democrats have held on to the Eastcott ward.
Stan Pajak, who is the group leader, received 1,497 votes, Dave Woods received 1,320 votes and Nicky Sewell received 1,365 votes.
Coun Wood said their success was down to hard work and postive campaigning. "It shows our policy is right on local issues," he said. "There was a lot of negative campaigining, which we heard about on the doorstep, but we carried out a postive campaign." And Coun Sewell said: "It just shows that the only way to win an election is to work hard all year round."
And Coun Pajak said it was a fantastic result. "We put a lot into the area and so did Labour and it was a real battle," he said. "I am very pleased to have been elected again, despite the national situation." The turnout for the ward was 36 per cent.
