A power cut has hit Swindon tonight, with parts of the town in complete darkness.
The issue appears to mainly be affecting Wanborough, with locals bemoaning the lack of electricity in the area.
“It was a sudden power cut with no warning and it seems like the whole area is out,” said one Wanborough resident.
"SSEN have sent a message saying we won’t have power until 11pm. Luckily we have already had dinner.
"I do worry for the local businesses who would normally have a busy Saturday night of trade.”
The outage was reported at 7:45pm on the evening of Saturday, February 4, but the actual power shortage is said to have occurred nearer to 7:30pm.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the matter as they have marked the whole of Wanborough as red on their live tracker map, highlighting it as an unplanned outage.
Although the electricity company are aware of the problem, they do not expect the issue to resolved until 11pm on Saturday night.
Several other smaller areas of Swindon are also currently experiencing unplanned power outage issues such as Broad Blunsdon, but none are as widespread as that in Wanborough.
If you live in the location and are experiencing these problems, quote KN0478 in your correspondence with SSEN.
