Swindon Supermarine made the perfect start to the new season in the PitchingIn Southern League Premier Division South with a superb 3-1 away victory at Farnborough FC.
With much of the team that were on course to make the play-offs retained this season, worries of a tricky start to the season were allayed when 36 minutes into the first half, Harry Williams fired past the keeper with a low drive.
In the second half, Marine showed what they were made of. Just four minutes had passed before Conor McDonagh got on the end of a sublime cross from Pierce Mitchell to power a header home to make it two.
As the triple-pronged front line of Kotwica, McDonagh and Williams ran riot, ably assisted by winger Ryan Campbell, more goals were inevitable.
The win was indeed sealed in the 70th minute by Zack Kotwica whose one-two with Williams allowed him to lob over the keeper for 3-0.
Kotwica should have made it four before the end, doing all the hard work, even going around the keeper but slicing the ball over.
With time running out, the hosts pulled back a late bundled goal from Akongo in the 91st minute.
Marine are next in action on Tuesday night in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round at home to Shepton Mallet.
