SWINDON Town’s Centre for Football Excellence girls were given the chance to mix it with the boys recently, and emerged from the gender war with a respectable two wins from five matches.

Town’s young stars played against the opposite sex from Croft Juniors at all age group levels between under 10s and under 15s.

Swindon’s girls claimed victories at under 12 and under 13 level, with Croft winning in the under 10s, under 11s and under 15s.

Girls football development officer Shane Hewlett said: “We were extremely proud of the girls’ performances throughout all of the age groups and believe that this will help improve our play throughout the season.

“I would like to thank Croft FC for playing against us and wish their chairman Carl Bunce all the very best for all Croft teams this season.”

Swindon Town Football in the Community are currently on the lookout for coaches to work in their development centres and after-school clubs.

Coaches need to hold an FA Level 2 certificate or above and should apply to Shane Hewlett by contacting the community office on 01793 617718 or emailing shane@stfc-fitc.co.uk.
