WEST Swindon Wanderers made it six wins from six in Swindon Sunday League Division Two with a 3-1 victory against Tap & Barrel, writes KEVIN BRIDGEMAN.
Daniel Wellbourne bagged a brace and Jamie Durup scored for the Wanderers with Joe Mancari grabbing a consolation for Tap.
Rock-bottom Tap were much-improved after being swept aside 9-0 by Wanderers seven days previously, and boss Dave Sheppard was pleased with the fighting spirit shown by his side.
“We hit the bar twice and the post once and could have been 4-2 up at half-time,” said Sheppard.
“But every single one of the boys showed a huge improvement from last week and given another 45 minutes I thought we could have nicked a draw.”
Karl Sheppard and Glyn Smith were on the scoresheet as AC Swindon beat Halcrow 2-0, while Jason Pook, Rich Clark and Tom Westall netted for Blyskawica who triumphed 3-0 at The Running Horse.
The Windmill remain second after a 6-0 win over Wanborough, with Matty Bennett (3), Colin Yates, Connor Gordon and Aaron Halliwell registering.
Deers Leap won 7-0 at Dynamo Ashton with Adam Jack bagging a hat-trick, Michael Chivers hitting a double and Scott Scanlon and Victor Cremin also scoring.
In Division One, The Dolphin manager Richie Boden had to dust off his boots as five injuries meant his side were down to the bare bones against New Century.
Boden popped up with a goal in the 8-4 defeat and Nathan Blackford (2) and Rich Wells were also on target.
Castrol won 4-0 at Penhill United and two late goals saw Fox & Hounds beat Inter Sandgate 3-1 with Blaine Fitzgerald, Jamie Richards and Jake Lloyd finding the net. Mark King grabbed Sandgate’s consolation.
Nathan Cooper scored a free kick from inside his own half as Rodbourne Real were 2-1 victors over Robnor Resins in Division Three. Chris Wright was also on target for Rodbourne while Shaun Irwin scored for Robnor.
Jason Milhench hit four, Dean Hughes bagged a brace and Jamie Hicks and Aaron Maximen scored as Walcot thumped Rudis 8-1. Clint Nicholson was on target for Rudis.
PL Motor Service were 8-4 winners at Tawny Owl for whom Andy Monk got a hat-trick and Tom Clapham also registered.
Nationwide Pavilion triumphed in the battle of Division Four’s top two as they triumphed 4-2 over FS Swindon. Aiden Williams scored two and Simon Jenkins and Dave Rendle also converted.
Eldene won 3-1 against Toothill Revolution with Mike Gregory scoring all three for the former side, while Greg John repled for Toothill. Smart Movers and Stratton Saints shared a 2-2 draw.
In Division Five, Max Bailey and Aaron Wells were the scorers as Penhill Moonrakers won 2-0 at Swindon United. Greendown beat DH Fitness 2-1, FC Wedge hammered RJ Aerials 6-1 and DPR and DBS drew 3-3.
Swindon Athletic are finally off the mark in Division Six after winning 6-4 at Save on Tyres. Andy Thorpe and Daniel Skinner both hit doubles and Ashley Devenney and Tom Gouldy were also on target. Chris Glover (2), Joe Kohn and Rob Hills were the scorers for Save on Tyres.
Whesley Smart, Brad Stanners and Daniel Smith scored as Rug Shack drew 3-3 with Bounce Squad. Cricklade MTA won 5-0 against CM Automotive and Cricklade Park Rangers beat Gorsehill Borough FC 7-2.
Globe progressed to the third round of the Wiltshire Sunday Cup with a 6-2 triumph against Chiseldon.
