BRAD Smith intends to “get as many minutes as possible” under his belt during his time at Swindon Town after joining on a youth loan from Liverpool.
The full-back only arrived at the County Ground on Thursday and trained just once with his new teammates prior to starting the opening-day victory over Scunthorpe United at the weekend.
However, he impressed in bursts with his rapid pace and appeared to slot in well to Town’s 3-5-2 system. After the game, he spoke about what he can offer the Robins and how he’s found the process of settling into life in Wiltshire.
He said: “I’ve played 21s for three years and under 18s before that. I got a sniff of the first team but it’s good to be out here and get some experience with a good team.
“They’ve put me up in a hotel the first day and the second day they put me in a flat. They’ve been great, all the staff here.
“The training is good. They try to do what they do in the games and take it from the training sessions into the games.
“I just want to get as many minutes as possible and help the lads do as well as they can this season. (Pace) is one of my attributes so I want to use it well. If you don’t have pace you have to have other things but it helps me a lot.
“It’s a lovely ground and the fans were great today – singing and not getting on our backs today. It was great.”
