COVENTRY City manager Stephen Pressley has denied making a bid for Swindon Town striker Michael Smith following reports linking him with the frontman over the weekend.
A national newspaper suggested on Sunday that the Sky Blues had failed in an attempt to land Smith, who scored twice for Town against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
However, Pressley has rejected that notion, telling the Coventry Telegraph: "He's a player I admire but his valuation is too high and that is a problem. Paying high transfer fees just now is difficult, although that is not to say we won't pay transfer fees.
"He's a good player but he's a Swindon player and we've done nothing to change that."
