SWINDON Spitfires United hosted Dursley Town in their first preseason friendly.
With new players brought into the fold, many were trying out in new positions but it was Spitfires who piled on the pressure from the start.
Sandra Higgins-Hughes long ball over found Natalia Wilson, who calmy placed the ball to Mel Bristow to open the scoring.
Dursley did push forward on several occasions and rattled the crossbar on 12 minutes.
United created many chances and Wilson came close on several opportunities with her best chance on 38 minutes, only for the ball to be knocked over by the Dursley goalkeeper.
In the second half both teams played some good football, Bristow coming close to her second, only again for the keeper to be in good form.
Spitfires’ second did come eight minutes from time, as Higgins-Hughes' corner fell nicely for Zofie Stepien to head home.
Dursley were awarded a penalty a minute from time, but Shona Hanlon made an impressive stop to keep a clean sheet.
Spitfires start their season proper on September 7.
