MARK Cooper was disappointed that his side had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Gillingham this evening.
The County Ground side were forced to come from behind twice at Priestfield following two defensive errors allowed their hosts to pounce.
But a goal on the stroke of half-time from Andy Williams and an 89th minute leveller from Raphael Branco ensured that Town didn’t go home empty handed.
“That’s two games that we should have won and we have had to go to the wire and get a point, which was the very least that we deserved,” Cooper said.
“If anyone has watched us, it has been a tremendous performance, maybe on Saturtday, it was very similar.
“But we can’t concede goals like that we should have killed the game by half-time and that is not being disprespectful to Gillingham, they have good players and good people at the football club.
“It should have been over at half-time, we come in at 1-1, we concede another ridiculous goal and we have to scrap to the very end to get an equaliser.
“I can’t envisage being stood here not getting anything from the game, I would have been distraught.
“I’m disappointed that we have not got three points but I’m very pleased with the never say die attitude to get back into the game.
“We can’t concede (sloppy) goals, we are working at that, we have young boys at the back and they are going to make mistakes, but we have to try and limit them.”
