SWINDON Town Ladies play their first game in the newly formed FA Women’s Premier League Division 1 (South West) on Sunday when they host St Nicholas from Bristol, at Shrivenham’s Barrington Park in a 12.30 kick-off.
The Saints were promoted at the end of last season from the South West Regional League and are playing the first game in the higher League, consequently the two sides have never played each other before.
Town can expect a tough challenge as the Saints have been one of the stronger sides in their league and have just missed out on promotion in the past few seasons.
“We are all looking forward to the new season,” said new Town ladies manager, Steve Robertson. “We have had some good games in our pre-season friendlies and I hope that we can build on those performances.”
Town include four new signings in Sunday’s squad, including Serena Smith who makes her debut against her former club, as well as Sarah Uzzell, Lisa Coe brought in from Oxford United and Megan Attenborough formerly of MK Dons.
SQUAD: Robyn Levett, , Laura Morgan, Serena Smith, Beth Thompson, Lisa Coe, Sam Quinn, Michelle Rich, Chyna Collings, Alice Smith, Sarah Uzzell, Megan Attenborough, Ellie Maynard, Kelly Nightingale, Amy Baines & Sally Butterfield.
