TOWN boss Mark Cooper is expecting the paperwork to confirm Yaser Kasim’s call up to the Iraq side for their friendly against Peru in Dubai next month to come through this week.
The County Ground chief said after his side’s 2-0 success over Crewe at the weekend that they had had a brief chat with the Iraqi FA last week about Kasim’s involvement with the squad for the September 5 match.
Should Town receive they paperwork, Cooper said that they are more than likely going to look to rearrange their League One match at Chesterfield on Saturday, September 6 as both Massimo Luongo and Brad Smith have been called into the Australia squad.
“If he (Kasim) does get the call-up then we have the opportunity to reschedule that game,” Cooper told the Advertiser.
“I think it would be daft of us to go into the game without Brad Smith, Massimo Luongo and Yaser Kasim.”
