Coventry manager Steven Pressley is not expecting an easy ride as he brings his side to the County Ground tomorrow.
The former Scotland international has guided the Sky Blues through a tumultuous period in their history with his side forced to play their ‘home games’ at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium.
It was announced last week that Coventry would be returning to the Ricoh Arena and their visit to SN1 is penultimate away game before the club return home against Gillingham on Friday, September 5.
Pressley has garnered much praise for his handling of the situation and guiding Coventry to safety last season, despite a 10-point reduction.
He was in the stands on Tuesday and saw Town’s impressive performance as they went down to Brighton and Hove Albion.
He approaches management in a similar fashion to Swindon boss Mark Cooper and is certainly not taking Town lightly, especially at home.
“Neil (MacFarlane) and I watched them on Tuesday night against Brighton and they were very impressive,” said the Scot.
“They have had a positive start to the season and are one of the best teams in the division.
“They’re very much a passing team and I am sure, like last season, it’s going to be a very difficult game.
“They are an exceptionally good footballing team. Their manager there has had that philosophy since he took over and a little bit like Karl Robinson in that he has not deviated from that.
“All their players handle the ball and take it under pressure and I think that last year’s game down there was one of the best games you’re likely to see in League One football.
“A little bit like ourselves, they are epitomising just how good this league is. The results in the week with many teams defeating Premier League teams and competing with Championship teams highlights the standard down here.
“Many of the good young English players are being pushed through the leagues because of the amount of foreign players at the top level.”
Pressley was also boosted as Danny Pugh looks likely to make the matchday squad for Coventry against Town after recovering from injury quicker than expected, with Aaron Phillips set to cover for Jordan Clarke who is ill.
