MARK Cooper has hailed Wes Foderingham as the best goalkeeper in League One following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Coventry City.
The Swindon Town stopper produced a stunning save from a John Fleck headers to prevent his side from falling 2-0 down midway through the second half.
The Town boss also thought his 23-year-old custodian was going to deny Josh McQuoid from opening the scoring late in the first half.
“He is the best goalkeeper at the level and I expect that from him,” Cooper said in his post-match press conference.
“I thought that he saved the goal as well. I thought that he came out and timed his tackle, I thought that he saved it, but it squirmed out and the guy got a tap-in.”
Cooper praised young striker Connor Waldon after he made only his second start for Swindon after Michael Smith was forced to withdraw from the squad due to an injury picked up midway through the warm-up.
The 19-year-old local lad showed plenty of pace and strength in the hour that he had on the pitch before being replaced by George Barker.
“He is a good player. I have said it about 50 times in my press (meetings),” Cooper said.
“He is a very good centre forward. He is a probably the best at getting hold of the ball and he can be pleased with his hour on the pitch.”
The Town chief was also pleased with Jordan Turnbull’s contribution against Coventry and believes that the young defender, who is on-loan from Southampton, is getting better with every match that is played.
“He is a very good player,” Cooper added. “He is similar to Jack Stephens last year. Where Jack came to us and went from strength to strength, Jordan is doing the same – he a very accomplished centre back.”
