THERE was a major surprise in one of the quarter-final ties in the Chairman's Trophy, writes STEVE ASHLEY.
Liden Sunday from Division 4 upset Windmill from Division 2 4-2 after extra time.
The match finished 2-2 after 90 minutes with Liden equalising in the last minute with a penalty from Aiden Williams. Steve Morton, Dave Ashworth and Gareth Walton also netted. The Windmill replies came from Steve Shaw with a couple and Ross Kelly.
In the all-Divison 2 match it was Coleshill who came out on top by beating the Rat Trap 3-1 with goals from Steve Reeves, Stuart Clark and Dave Legg.
Division 1 Leaders AFC Gas recorded a crucial 4-1 home victory over Wroughton WMC thanks to a hat- trick from Alex Green and one from Rob Gray. Adam Giles replied for Wroughton.
Goals from Richard Martin and Simon Thompson helped Haydon Wick WMC to a 2-0 win against Swindon West Indians.
A Tate Hulbert double enabled Juventus to beat SKS Blyskawica 3-1, Mark Peters also scored.
Division 2 Leaders Sunday Merlin drew 2-2 at third placed Shield & Dagger with Stuart Hemsley scoring both goals, Louis Cunningham and Jamie Ashby were on the mark for the Dagger.
Division 3 Goals from Dan Scotford and Aaron Kaye helped leaders RJK Ferndale to a 2-1 home win over Duckhams.
KMLC moved into second spot after their 2-0 home defeat of Dynamo Ashton, Ian McCarthy and Scott Walker both scoring.
Doubles from Colin Yates and John Litton gave The Manor a 4-2 win at Intel for whom Mark Wells scored both.
AutoColour beat Sony Owl Madrid 2-1 with one apiece for John Hacker and Rob Dixon.
Division 4 Abbey Scaffolding Dolphin and Castrol shared the points 1-1 with Darren Chutooree on target for Abbey and Craig Ingram doing likewise for Castrol.
Philip Andrews won 4-1 at Pennoes with Ashraf Ali, Tim Hughes, Rob Reeve and Richard Walsh all scoring. Jason Cobb replied for Pennoes.
Division 5 In this tight division there are just four points separating the top six teams.
So it was probably no surprise when leaders GTS went down 2-0 at Village Inn, whose hitmen were James Calow and Bryan Watson.
Tom Green, Gary McGunigall, Mark Thatcher and an own goal saw Queenstown Sunday to a 4-3 home win over Dennis Removals who staged a fine recovery after being 4-0 down.
Doubles for Barry Taylor and Graham Prictor helped Westlink to a 5-3 success at Nationwide, Matt Bissett also scored. Fox & Hounds won 4-0 at AFC Royston.
Division 6 In the clash between the two teams at the top it was leaders New Century WMC who took a 2-0 lead at AFC Classic through Adam Whitefield and Lee Stoddart.
Martin James grabbed a goal back for Classic but it was not enough and Century held out for what could be a decisive victory.
Third-placed Galacticos went down 1-0 to an Antosh Nowicki goal at Coleview.
Eldene Social Club and Sandgate Intrnational drew 1-1, Dave Rendle scored for Eldene as did Aiden Doyle for Sandgate.
Division 7 Leaders Pinehurst Community won 2-0 at bottom club Pertemps.
Behind them Dorcan Old Boys tuned up for next week's match with the leaders by defeating Thamesdown AFC 3-1, Graeme Little, James Sutton and Dave Devine scoring.
Top scorers of the day were Bear Marlborough who slammed The Abbey 10-1. On the scoresheet were Chris Patterson, Lee Matthews, Mark Thompson (3), Ryan Banks, Brett Reay, Matt Bodle, Mick Jones and Andy Guarnieri.
Stratton United won 3-2 at Cats Solutions thanks to Steve Winchcombe, Iain Carter and an own goal. The Cats replies both came from Matt Bown.
Division 8 Long time leaders West Swindon Wanderers seem to be going through a sticky patch at the moment as they again dropped points, this time being held to a 1-1 draw at home to The Pattern Store with Jon Driver scoring.
Walcots Finest won 4-2 at Swindon Snooker with Andy Fleming and Ben Watson scoring for Snooker.
Hitting the back of the net for Purton Red House were Paul Blagden, Junior Small and John Horgan in their 3-2 win at Red Lion Wootton Bassett. Luke Wride and Jason Fairclough replied for the Lion.
Stratton St Margaret's recent good run was halted by Swindon City, who won 1-0 thanks to a Tony Hicks goal.
WILTS SUNDAY CUP It is going to be an all-Swindon final. Nine Elms, the current leaders of Division 4, beat Trowbridge team Coyote 3-0.
Goals from Warren Fuller, Adam Mayhew and Steve Yeardley will see them meet the Greyhound, who beat Jovial Monk 2-0 in the other semi-final.
