TOWN boss Mark Cooper is hoping the railway problems do not put the buffers on the fans attempts to get to Wembley.
No trains will be running from Swindon station on Sunday because of engineering works.
Rail operator First Great Western is recommending fans travel from Didcot Parkway or Reading if they wish to travel by train. Though FGW will be putting on extra rail replacement buses.
Preston fans are experiencing similar problems travelling down from Lancashire, leading to the clash being dubbed ‘the rail replacement final’.
The rail issues are certain to have played a part in a slowing of sales for the final, though fans on social media have also suggested the limited availability of the cheaper tickets is a problem.
The Swindon Store admitted on Twitter yesterday that after an initial flurry of sales last week the pace had slowed and they had sold around 19,000 tickets.
SAS Travel, who are the official providers of coaches for Town fans, also tweeted to suggest demand for their services were not as high as when Town reached Wembley in 2010 or 2012.
“There’s ridiculous problems with the trains,” Cooper told the Advertiser.
“It’s crazy planning from whoever’s in charge. If they can’t organise that on such a big weekend there’s no wonder their organisations don’t make any money.
“We’re just hoping our fans turn out in real good numbers and get behind us."
