A REJUVENATED offence held the key as Swindon Storm powered to an impressive 78-34 home victory over Torbay Trojans.
Quarterback Greg Roscow threw for over 300 yards, which included five touchdown passes, while Dan Thorne picked up two rushing touchdowns as Storm ran riot at Supermarine to secure an impressive double over the Trojans this season.
Curtis Malcolm took a long run into the end zone for a touchdown, while Brett Flippance also returned an interception for a score, leaving head coach Steve Bennett impressed with the way Roscow and Thorne combined to implement their new-look offence.
“Our offensive playbook is designed to be flexible enough to adapt to new challenges,” he said.
“Changing a formula is never easy but QB Greg Roscow is a real student of the sport and has really helped the transition.
“Dan Thorne has marshalled the team well from the QB position up until now and assisted Greg on Sunday from the slot receiver and half back positions.
“Both guys are superb team players, always putting the club before themselves in a way which makes them a credit to the sport.”
Next up for Storm is a visit to local rivals Oxford this Sunday, where the club will be looking to complete a double over their near neighbours.
“Our opposition have been quick to capitalise on our weaknesses since our big win over Oxford Saints in early May,” said Bennett.
“This Sunday we travel to a rejuvenated Oxford team for the away leg.
“They have a large squad and play tough football.
“The Saints are in the hunt for a play-off spot and are grinding out wins when they need it most, so we will need to pull it all together for this Sunday to halt their running game.”
