FORMER Swindon Town forward Dave Syrett has died, aged 60, it has been announced.
Salisbury-born Syrett made 135 appearances for the County Ground club in the 1970s, scoring 37 goals.
Syrett initially came to prominence with four goals for Town's youth team on their run to the FA Youth Cup quarter finals in 1973, going on to make his first-team debut against Preston North End in September of the same year.
After a spell on loan with Wolves in 1975, he returned to Town and was amongst the goals, finishing level with top scorer Trevor Anderson.
Missing just three games of Town's 1976-77 Division Three campaign, Syrett subsequently moved on to Mansfield Town, for whom he made 65 appearances, scoring 20 goals and also played for Walsall, Peterborough United and Northampton Town.
He also featured on the non-league scene for Brackley Town, Salisbury and Warminster Town.
