THE A teams of Lawn and Moredon could not be separated in Division One of the Swindon & District Winter League at Dorcan on Saturday.
At the end of the first half, Lawn led by eight goals but Moredon dug deep and fought their way back.
Wing defence Jody Sealy was Lawn’s player of the match.
Pinehurst B are still challenging at the top of the table after a 36-25 success over Burmah A, wing attack Issy Minturn their player of the match.
Lawn C wrapped up a 45-23 success over Jets in Division Two, despite having trailed after the first quarter.
Goalkeeper Florrie Green was named their player of the match, with wing defence Charlotte Arnold also prominent.
Royal Wootton Bassett A were comfortable 58-26 winners over Croft D in Division Three, with Grace Evans named player of the match for Bassett.
Nationwide C secured their second win of the season as they defeated Moredon B 28-19.
A strong performance from the outset saw Nationwide’s pairing of goal attack Charlotte Webb and goal shooter Kate Moore work well, while the new defence pairing of goalkeeper Georgie Brain and goal defence Jo Hill kept Moredon at bay.
Webb was named Nationwide’s player of the match.
In Division Four, Royal Wootton Bassett’s B team played Delta Reds C where, after a close opening half with only one goal in it, Bassett pulled away to take a 54-33 triumph.
Player of the match was awarded to goal defence Annabel Hosking.
Lawn D secured a 44-23 success over winless Croft E, leading steadily throughout, goal attack Holly Atkins’ accurate shooting earning her player of the match honours Royal Wootton Bassett C took on Fairford in Division Five, with Bassett winning 40-27 as player of the match for Bassett was given to goal shooter Charlie Giles.
Lawn E dominated from the first quarter against Moredon C, racking up a 11-goal lead with some fine shooting from GA Brook Drayton.
With the defensive unit of goalkeeper Jade Young and goal defence Emily Scholes reading the game superbly, centre Lauren Twine’s drives and interceptions earned her the player of the match award in a 45-12 win.
Wing attack Jessie Brown was named Abbey Meads C’s player of the match in their 43-31 defeat to Purton B.
Lawn maintained their unbeaten record in the Over 35s League as they defeated Raychem 38-18, goal attack Karen Rawlins earning herself player of the match honours.
