SWINDON Town midfielder Rohan Ince is content with life at the County Ground, despite enduring during difficult circumstances.
The 24-year-old has made seven appearances, scoring one goal, since arriving at the County Ground on loan from Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion in January.
In that time, he has quickly established himself as a favourite among the Town fans as a result of his combative performances at the base of midfield.
Despite not playing that specific role for a while, Ince admits it is a position he has enjoyed operating in under Luke Williams.
“Luke likes to call it ‘the destroyer’. Basically, I have to try and stop anyone bombarding the back two centre-backs, so I am in and around them,” said the midfielder. “Any knock-downs or anything like that; I have to get on it quickly and make tackles.
“It’s a role I haven’t done in a long time. I did it when I first broke in at Brighton and I did it successfully, so it’s something I’m comfortable doing.”
The midfielder also believes it allows Town to get more from fellow loanee Charlie Colkett as their separate styles of play work well together.
“Charlie is a flair player. He likes to get on the ball and do nice things with it, but there is another side to the game too,” he added “I’m happy to come in there and compliment his side of the game, and he compliments mine. It is a good relationship.”
Going into this weekend’s clash with Bradford City, Swindon are in a precarious situation, with seven points between them and Oldham Athletic, who occupy 20th place.
However, Ince says he will draw on all his previous experience in a bid to haul Town away from the League One drop zone.
“I went to Fulham at the end of last year and we had a relegation battle as well, so I am almost used to it now,” said the former Chelsea youth product. “Every game now should give us a boost because we have a goal to avoid relegation.
“My only aim is to try and help the team, so the pressure from the fans doesn’t really faze me. I’m just going to do my job for the team.
“I was at Fulham and there was a season at Brighton where we were in a relegation battle.
"I know what it is about and I know what mindset you need to have to approach each game. “Every game is the same for me.
"You have to go in there with the same mentality that there is a chance you can win, no matter who you are playing against.”
